Would someone lift a RWD truck?
It looks really fucking nice, which is what got my attention and it has the 5.7. But then I read a little further into it to try and see why it was so cheap. What do you know, it’s RWD. What?

There was more lifted non 4X4 trucks than 4X4 in my area.

4wd goes up.
2wd goes down.

why would anyone lift a truck that they will never drive offroad (I.E. most of the people who live around me?) because they are dumb, and because a big truck allows them to intimidate other drivers.

More redneck vanity, less available cash/credit for the transfer box.

Well, not for this application, but there’s more than a few out in AZ. Wannabe, and actual, trophy trucks / desert runners / pre-runners are typically RWD, and for many applications, are lifted. =P

You think Bro-Trucks go off-road? Lulz

Because image.
Problem with 2WD trucks is that one day you’ll wish you had 4WD. I found some NICE diesel trucks that were 2WD, but I couldn’t do it.
On that note...I think a small lift is in my truck’s future. Because the Icon 2.5" lift kit supposedly has REALLY good ride comfort.

I reached all of the same spots in Bull Dog, Butcher Jones, and Sycamore as my friends w/ 4WD trucks in my stock RWD ‘05 4Runner SR5, albeit sometimes by a slightly different route. :)

Most 2WD diesels end up being used as tow vehicles.
![]() 08/18/2016 at 16:02 |

and there are times when towing that you’ll wish you had 4WD.

You’ve never been to Florida apparently.

I really wanted the Total Chaos 2" kit when I had my 4Runner

I dunno.

You’d be surprised how capable a RWD truck with a limited slip diff is.
![]() 08/18/2016 at 16:10 |

Ooh yes! A 3 inch lift would look grea!
![]() 08/18/2016 at 16:18 |

That looks sick

I really don’t see why people buy non-4x4 trucks that aren’t base models full stop. Around here they’re pretty much nonexistent.

Ahem
![]() 08/18/2016 at 16:30 |

If you boil it down, why would anyone buy a 2WD truck at all. I can see a need for some extra ground clearance, but not extra traction. For example, the curbs at Costco are like 7" or 8" high, much worse than Target.

Not all lifted 2WD trucks are bro-dozers
![]() 08/18/2016 at 16:39 |

Because Brodozer.

Because prerunner.

Except I've never really wanted 4WD on my truck. Never needed it, adds more weight and complexity.

Like I said, some day you’ll wish you had it.

I know some 4wheels that actually think 2wd is better for train driving than 4wd. Less hardware hanging down to get hung up or to brake and leave you stranded. They are a very small group, but some people do think a 2wd truck is better than 4wd.
![]() 08/18/2016 at 17:32 |

Because RWD is cheaper and most of these trucks never see the dirt anyways. Sad, but true.

Hey man, those mall parking lot speed bumps ain’t nothin to fuck wit, yo.

After driving a diesel 3500 once and touching light mud I am willing to say I would never get a diesel that isn't 4x4.
![]() 08/18/2016 at 21:03 |

If you’re going to buy something as massive as that — it HAS to be 4x4 imo. Who would do such a thing??
![]() 08/18/2016 at 22:14 |

I totally agree
![]() 08/18/2016 at 22:16 |

That too. Like why buy a $65,000 diesel F-250 that isn't 4wd? It's not a money issue.

You stole my comment!

That’s a massive amount of trucks down by me.
It’s all about the look. Not at all for the practicality

2WD brodozers are pretty much the official vehicle of the state.
